Title: FlashMagic Supports Linux?
Post by: sci-3d on August 25, 2006, 07:00:56 AM
Dear alls,

I just started learning C Programming with 8051.
I use P89V51RD2 from Philips.
And I compile with SDCC (http://sdcc.sourceforge.net/)  - Gnu GPL (opensource) C Compiler.

Now I work on Windows, I try to switch to Linux.

I am wondering, although it is a freeware, why FlashMagic does not supports for Linux?

Are there others software which work on Linux can flash P89V51RD2 ?

Best regards,

There isn't a Flash Magic version for Linux because 99.999% of 8051 developers seem to use Windows. You could try Wine though.

Some hints for using Linux for '51 development can be found in http://www.8052.com/users/redtommo/
There are also several other members of the 8052.com forum who appear to be active Linux users, so if in troubles you could ask perhaps there.
