FlashMagic currently has the ability to twitch DTR before programming.
This can be used to RESET the processor to initiate the 400ms ISP probe test.
Please consider 'send break signal' as another possibility to send a reset signalto the device. I need to use a modem connection to update the code and hence can't use DTR, but the modem is break-transparant.
Nope, I don't have funding to pay for this, it's for "good cause" no-funding volunteer work
(and sending Dutch speciality food like Gouda cheese probably gets confiscated by customs).

Try:
ISP -> Start Bootloader
Check "Send Break Condition"
Click on "Start bootloader"
