Hi I am new to this having a problem trying to update a surround sound processor I have a usb to rs232 cable installed the driver and all I keep getting is unable to communicate (in use) ensure no other applications using the com port try raising or lowering baud rate.  I tried all the settings with the same results.  Can someone please help me

It means that Flash Magic failed to open the COM port for reading and writing. Typically this is because another application has already opened it, or the COM port doesn't exist.

Go to the Device Manager in Windows and expand the list of COM port. Unplug your cable, wait a bit, then plug it back in. Which COM port disappeared and reappeared? That is the one to use.

Note however that a lot of people have experienced problems with USB to RS232 cables. It may work fine, but to be sure I recommend using a PC with a built in COM port.
