I have some DMX disco lights which appear to have the same fault - When swapping a working flash into the faulty units they work so I presume I have a faulty flash chip.
I can get blank chips from Farnell in the UK but not sure about programming. Do I need to buy a dedicated programmer to read the program from the 'good' chip and write to the blank chips or can I connect the flash to my serial port?

If the devices are locked then you might not be able to read anything out of them.
