Title: Flash Magic ISP w/ 89c51rx+
Post by: Stephen Meckley on February 10, 2004, 01:47:25 PM
I have a few old 89c51RD+ parts that I would like to try and use so I am trying to develope a hardware ISP board. I am trying to use Flash Magic to program the devices and I am a bit confused. In the Flash Magic manual it states in section 6.9 that reset and execute can only be performed "on revision G or higher for the 66x and old Rx2 families". Fine so I can't use that feature on my Rx+ parts. As I get to chapter 7.3.1 it talks about using DTR and RTS to control the RST and PSEN pins on the part to control execution and my part is listed as capable of this. So my questions are:

Can you use RS-232 signals DTR and RTS to control reset and execute on a Rx+ device with the Flash Magic utility?

If so has anyone succesfully done this and could I get the schematic?

Thanks for any help!

You should be able to do this, although I can't recall right now having tried it. There is a simplified schematic diagram in the Flash Magic manual.
