Title: How to program P89V51RD2
Post by: zsavov on August 13, 2006, 10:07:29 PM
Hi all,

I guess this topic will pop all the time until Philips release some appnote about it.
From what I understand, to enter ISP mode, the CPU must receive "U" symbol during the first 400ms after reset. I guess that means that the reset will be initiated somehow by the FlashMagic tool. In that case what circuitry do I have to add?
Is there any other way of forcing P89V51 into ISP mode (like we do with P89C51 - holidng pins down etc.)?

Thank you

The latest versions of Flash Magic can control the Reset signal using DTR. See the manual in version 3.23 for a simplified schematic diagram.

Hi,

It seems from the manual that the RTS signal comming from the COM port is not used when programming P89V51.
Am I correct?

Thank you

It's not required, but you can have FM assert it to act as a control signal or provide a small amount of power (not really recommended though).
