Intel hex format

I've got Intel hex file for p89C51RD2FA and have to load it by FlashMagic.
Now I have to load it along with device part number containing letters and other non-numerical symbols.The question is,can I do it and if I can,how am I supposed to calculate checksum.Please help me!!Thanks in advance.
