Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and am hitting a wall while trying to program my P89V51RD2 for my school project.

Once I set the type of chip, and specify the hex file and hit start a window comes up saying "reset the device into ISP mode now". So i hit the Reset button on my board and nothing happens!!! I can't get past this window to continue the programming.

Is there anything I can try to fix this problem? I have already tried going back to an older version and I have checked my ISP circuit SEVERAL times and had others check it too. I'm really needing some new opinions.

If anyone can help me I would be greatly appreciative!

Thanks,

Mike

Try cycling the power instead of pressing reset. I find that works better for me.

Do you have an oscilloscope? If so use that to see if a 'U' is reaching the RxD pin at all. A bad solder joint could cause communication problems. So could noise, incorrect voltage, etc.

Please give the current version 4.53 a try.

I tried with latest version 4.60. I use power-up to reset. Still it can sometimes
take quite a few attempts.
