The part has been discontinued. It does make a nice LCD display controller but does not
have a/d, d/a devices. Other slower 8bit 8051 devices are too slow to use as a display
controller for a graphics LCD.

Is Flashmagic going to support these devices that are programmed thru J-TAG interface?
Or is this where the line is drawn on supported devices?

Download wine (it is open source) and you will have what you need to run FlashMagic on Linux.
If you ever need to "get under the hood" you can do that using Linux, Open BSD, Free Bsd, etc.
In Windows, forget it. I have done development with purchased OS's and and tools. You get
a problem, they got you by the balls. It may never get fixed.

I have been using the recent versions of Wine and FlashMagic with great success. In the past the problems encountered have been more
with building and installing Wine, not FlashMagic.

        You will get a few comments about Linux when you mention it here.
        The fact is that system programmers that worked on Unix from ATT,
        Sun OS, Berkeley Unix, and all the REAL operating systems prefer
        Linux or the Open BSD types. I find that the windows programmer
        types of today only know windows and have not been exposed to
        the heavy duty OS's. I have also found that many of todays windows
        type people have not much formal training or credentials. Getting
        back to your question, yes it's not hard to write a simple read and
        write routines that go through the Linux serial port. You can interface
        that stuff with a graphical user interface using TCL/TK. My own
        experience has been that I get a 4 times plus speed improvement
        when I use my own ISP software rather than flashmagic (no offense
        to the authors of flashmagic). I also like the way I can read multiple
        blocks in flash and have those blocks in seperate boxes on my
        screen, where as in flashmagic you only get a single display box.

If you want to continue to ask this type of question it would help
to specify your new MCU. There are other forums that could address
this question better.

   I suspected that Mark might be talking about the flash utility that
   Philips provide, a program called "LPC210_ISP.exe". Although I
   just looked at the data sheet for his device. They upped the baud
   rate to 230k for serial ISP. But I see no mention for USB support.

         Talk about timing. I am about to start using this same device. I was
going to use Linux and go that route. When I first started out I used
FlashMagic. I'm not sure yet about whether their ISP firmware support
for USB. But I will find out. I probably will be ordering devices today. I
found a good source for emulation sockets too. Other people I talked to
would have a minimum quantity of 10, but not my latest source. They
accepted an order for 1 socket.

Well, you had better understand AN96075. It deals with the "RST" pin.
As to your "minor changes". Reversing the reset capacitor and charging
resistor connections are all thats probably needed.

Get App note AN96075. It will tell you everything.

It's a little more involved than that. The EAN/WAIT pin is sampled on reset
and this will determine the memory configuration. Philips has a application
Note the talks about it. I use a 74LS74 in my designs.

If you do select the 6 clock mode you can not ever use the device in
12 clock mode again.
